10 million French people watch TV content with Molotov
Paris, January 29, 2020

Molotov has surpassed 10 million users just 3 years after its launch and confirms its leadership in the French streaming (OTT) market. The company has also recently been selected to join the French Tech 120 index as one of the most innovative start-ups in France.
After enjoying a 63% increase in time spent on its platform and an 82% increase in subscriptions in 2019, Molotov has crossed in January the symbolic 10 million user threshold (10x in less than 2 years). As OTT’s adoption is rapidly spreading, Molotov has established itself as an industry leader in France.
Molotov provides access to over 170 linear and non linear, free and pay channels, including over 30.000 titles refreshed daily, and it is continually seeking to improve its content offer. In the fourth quarter of 2019 Molotov enriched its offer with premium content across all categories: entertainment with Viacom and Turner channels, news & information with Altice- NextRadioTV and RT France, sports with Sport en France, ethnic content with the integration of African and Maghrebi leading channels, and even a « Gamer Zone » dedicated to video gaming fans. Molotov continues to forge ahead and will grow its catalog even more in the coming weeks, with the incorporation of local, regional and foreign channels, documentaries, and additional entertainment content.
Molotov, who has already received multiple awards for its technological and commercial innovations, will continue to disrupt the market in 2020. It will soon introduce new and unique functionalities to its users, as well as innovative tools for the content editors and/or channels, such as the « SmartPaywall » (for subscription-based content editors) and « SmartAdServing » (for ad-supported content editors).
In addition, Molotov is proud to have been recently selected to join the French Tech 120 index (*), a government-backed organization set up to support the most promising startups that have the potential to become global technology leaders by creating favorable conditions for their development, growth and continued innovation. This illustrates both the relevance of the Molotov platform and the recognition of its significant development opportunities, as well as its contribution to the French industry.
(*) French Tech 120 : Launched in September 2019 by the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, the French Tech 120 program illustrates the French government’s desire to become the best possible support for the French Tech ecosystem. The 120 selected startups are among the most promising companies in the country and have the potential to become global technology leaders. The list of services, intended to grow continuously, covers five categories: international development, financing, access to the market, recruitment of talent and support in all relations with the administration. Pooling resources from across the various government agencies, ministries and public service departments, this program is intended to simulate growth and create opportunities in France, following the global success of our top startups.
